Associations and Goals

“It’s hard for individuals working alone to achieve much.”

ACG-strategyAssociations have challenges when it comes to reaching their goal. The lack of volunteers can contribute to that challenge. There are several reasons why people might be unsure as to whether or not they want to join an association. Potential members might think they don’t have anything to offer that is of value to the group. Others might worry about the time commitment and the feeling of not knowing anyone.

The secret for associations is to  keep the commitment small and manageable to attract new members. Make a goal achievable by providing small steps and tasks that can be split up into groups and give volunteers the option to help out virtually.

To help get ideas on how to improve your association, look at other associations and see how they are attracting new members. Have monthly meetings to ensure you are meeting your strategic objectives and to brainstorm new ideas. It’s more important to create a group that people want to join, becoming part of a community, than to beat people over the head with a message.
